A student in India made a flying drone that can carry passengers

Meet Medhansh Trivedi: The Class 12 Student Who Built a Human-Carrying Drone

Medhansh Trivedi, a Class 12 student from Scindia School in Gwalior, has built a drone capable of carrying a person. Inspired by China’s advanced drone technology, Medhansh designed and developed the drone, which he named “MLDT 01.”

“I got the inspiration to make this drone after seeing the drones of China. My teacher, Manoj Mishra, provided immense technical support and motivation to help me develop the drone,” Medhansh told ETV Bharat.


Key Features of the MLDT 01

The MLDT 01 is a remarkable creation for someone so young. Here’s what makes it stand out:

  • Carrying Capacity: It can transport a person weighing up to 80 kilograms.
  • Speed: The drone can fly at a speed of 60 kilometers per hour.
  • Dimensions: With a length and width of 1.8 meters, it is designed for compact efficiency.
  • Flight Power: Powered by four motors commonly used in agricultural drones, the drone has a total capacity of 45 horsepower.
  • Flight Duration: It can fly continuously for up to six minutes.
  • Safety Limits: For now, the drone is restricted to flying at a height of 10 meters for safety reasons.

The Journey and Vision

The project took three months to complete and cost approximately ₹3.5 lakh. Medhansh’s teacher, Manoj Mishra, played a pivotal role in guiding him through the technical challenges and encouraging him to bring the project to life.

Looking to the future, Medhansh has ambitious plans for his creation. He intends to upgrade the drone to a hybrid model, making it more suitable for practical uses such as:

  • Transporting goods.
  • Personal transportation.
  • Applications in agriculture.

Aiming for the Skies

Beyond drones, Medhansh dreams of setting up an air taxi service and developing affordable helicopters for everyday use. His innovative mindset and determination to make aerial technology more accessible could redefine how people and goods are transported in the future.

Medhansh’s work is a testament to how curiosity, inspiration, and the right mentorship can help turn big ideas into reality.
